FreezeFrame is the most widely used video system for collection and analysis of data from fear conditioning experiments. With the addition of a new component, FreezeFrame is additionally an ideal solution for Tail Suspension tests. The same simple camera setup is used: simply point the 4 cameras at 4 different animals. No special lighting is needed. No special hardware. The new video analysis for tail suspension screens out passive movements of the animal and accepts only those motions that a human observer would score as constituting effort. Fully
validated. Greater than 90% concordance between FreezeFrame and
trained human observers, as tested by an independent lab (Jeffrey
Kogan, Memory Pharmaceuticals, Montvale, NJ). The figure compares
seconds of inactivity as scored by a human observer and by FreezeFrame. Store video images for later review. Export QuickTime movies for presentation. Batch export data and analyses to Excel. Analyze % effort, number of bouts, bout duration and intervals for user-specified parts of trial. 4-, 8- and 12- channel systems allow high-throughput testing. |
